Rentable e-scooters from companies like Bird and Lime are common in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and other Florida cities. Riders travel at 15 mph or more with no protective barrier, which means falls, collisions, and being struck by cars can all cause serious injuries.

Who might be liable in an e-scooter accident

• A driver who failed to see or yield to the scooter rider
• The scooter rental company, if a mechanical defect caused the crash
• A city or property owner, if a pothole, debris, or poor sidewalk/path maintenance caused the fall

The rental app agreement doesn't erase your rights
